O&L Wins Overall No 1 Best Company To Work For Award

In 2014 Sven Thieme, Chief Executive Chairman and Berthold Mukuahima, Director of Human Capital at Ohlthaver & List Group of Companies proudly received the overall No 1 place in the BEST COMPANY TO WORK FOR (BCTWF) survey in Southern Africa in the large business category. This award was complemented with the overall No 1 BEST COMPANY TO WORK FOR award in Namibia in the large business category.

The O&L Group has set itself the strategic objective of becoming one of the top three best companies to work for in southern Africa by 2017. The associated survey is conducted by Deloitte & Touche South Africa once a year. For the Group it was very clear from the beginning that, in order to achieve this objective, value needed to be added to its employees’ experiences at the workplace, thereby creating a motivated workforce. Furthermore BCTWF is a strategic objective assisting the company to benchmark its employment practices against best people practices in the industry. It provides the company with an objective insight on how its employees perceive and experience the company, which gives the company the opportunity to improve and exceed employee expectations. 

The BCTWF survey measures employees’ views and perceptions on the following four key aspects, namely:
1. Trust: employee trust in leadership, their ethics and integrity
2. Hope: confidence in the future existence and sustainability of the company
3. Competency: being equipped and empowered with the requires skills and competencies to be successful in my job
4. Worth: feeling of being recognised and appreciated for the contribution that I make

Therefore the main objective of BCTWF is to create excellent employment experiences based on the foundation of hope, trust, purpose and competency development for all employees in the organisation. Various interventions have been initialized and successfully implemented to ensure great results in the journey of becoming the best company to work for. For O&L and its employees this is a journey of becoming the most progressive and inspiring company, focused on creating a future and enhancing life.

Training intervention

O&L World is a leadership and development management series aimed at creating ambassadors for the O&L Group of Companies. This program provides an overview of the history of O&L, as well as the purpose, values and leadership competencies. Furthermore the program aims to stimulate and generate new thinking from which opportunities for creation and invention of breakthrough thinking will emerge. O&L World empowers employees, managers and leaders of O&L with the tools to apply breakthrough thinking to current and future business issues, goals and objectives to be able to achieve extraordinary results.

O&L World has proved itself to be very successful in inducting employees to the world of O&L, how we think and do to achieve success. This program has exceeded itself in creating motivated, inspired and involved employees in the group, supporting our company and best company to work for purpose.
